Many States have taken initiatives to promote Natural farming practices with the vision to enhance farmer’s welfare, food security, environment restoration, sustainability through natural farming practices. The centrally sponsored schemes under Paramparagat Krishi Vikas Yojna (PKVY) incentivize the States to take up natural farming practices. The Bharatiya Prakritik Krishi Padhati (BPKP) scheme, under PKVY, promotes indigenous farming practices based on the traditional practice and utilization of on-farm available bio resources as agri- inputs. As per the GoI, during 2020-21, the BPKP – Implementation Status will cover the total area of 2.84 lakh ha (A.P= 1, 00,000 lakh ha, Kerala= 84000 ha, Chhattisgarh=85000 ha, Jharkhand= 3400 ha and H.P= 12000 ha).
State governments are extensively supporting farmers in up scaling Natural Farming by providing elaborate extension services. With the success of natural farming in certain states, many other States are promoting and enhancing the Natural farming practice as well.
