A meeting was held on 9 October 2020 to discuss the next steps to take natural farming forward, including the collection of empirical evidence, scientific validation, and preparation of success stories. The meeting was attended by senior officials of NITI Aayog, Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare (MoA&FW), State Governments, and representatives of international organizations engaged in the discussion on promoting Natural Farming.
An important decision was made to develop a roadmap for the implementation of Natural Farming on a pan-India basis. Following this meeting, the collaborative work plan of ICAR and World Agroforestry(ICRAF) was amended and was signed by the directorate generals of both ICRAF and ICAR on 9 June 2021. The work plan added a project on ‘restoration of degraded lands through agroforestry and other ecological approaches including natural farming’.
